This project aims to enhance cargo handling and packaging processes for Salacia Logistics (SLL) through the implementation of the Cargo Handling Information & Packaging System (CHIPS). SLL operates bulk handling operations in Louisiana and Alabama, dealing with various products such as rice, sand, and fertilizer.
Overview
This project aims to enhance cargo handling and packaging processes for Salacia Logistics (SLL) through the implementation of the Cargo Handling Information & Packaging System (CHIPS). SLL operates bulk handling operations in Louisiana and Alabama, dealing with various products such as rice, sand, and fertilizer etc. The project focuses on developing a Progressive Web App (PWA) for the staff working at the facility and a web portal for administrators to streamline inventory management, optimize the bagging process, and improve operational efficiency.
Client History
Salacia Logistics (SLL) has been Cybersoft North America’s valued partner for the past couple of years, and they have entrusted us with their bulk handling operations. With a strong presence in two major states in the USA, SLL has cemented its reputation as a reliable logistics provider, specializing in the management of various products such as rice, sand, and fertilizer across multiple sites. Over the years, SLL has faced challenges in optimizing its cargo handling processes, including manual documentation errors and limited visibility into inventory management.

SLL partnered with us to develop the Cargo Handling Information & Packaging System (CHIPS), which would address these challenges and enhance operational efficiency. This initiative aimed to streamline inventory management, optimize the bagging process, and introduce real-time data collection and transmission capabilities. Our partnership with SLL has been characterized by collaboration and a shared commitment to innovation, ensuring that we deliver tailored solutions to meet their evolving needs.
Goals
Improve Inventory Management:

SLL sought to enhance inventory management by introducing real-time data collection and transmission capabilities. They aimed to eliminate manual data entry errors and delays by adopting a system providing instant updates on inventory levels, movements, and stock statuses.

Streamline the Bagging Process:

The client aimed to optimize the bagging process to improve tracking and minimize damages. By implementing CHIPS, SLL aimed to streamline bagging operations, ensuring that each bag was properly labeled, tracked, and accounted for throughout the handling process. This would help minimize errors, prevent losses, and enhance overall efficiency.

Enhance Operational Efficiency:

SLL aimed to enhance overall operational efficiency and reduce manual steps in its cargo handling processes. Implementing CHIPS is intended to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and provide tools for better decision-making. This would enable SLL to improve productivity, reduce costs, and deliver a higher level of service to its customers.
Challenges
The challenges faced by Salacia Implementing the Cargo Handling Information & Packaging System (CHIPS) encountered two significant challenges: manual documentation processes and limited real-time visibility into inventory management at Salacia Logistics (SLL). These challenges included errors and delays due to traditional paper-based methods, as well as difficulties in accessing up-to-date inventory information, hampering efficient operations.

Our Solution

The integration of CHIPS marked a transformative milestone for the client, promptly tackling significant challenges. This comprehensive solution not only optimized operational processes but also notably reduced errors and delays which are common in inventory management. The introduction of real-time updates allowed for on-the-fly decision-making, which also helped in overall operational costs.

Architecture & Technologies

Architecture

The Prosperas Mobile Application was built from the ground-up to ensure maximum security and reliability. Our agreement stipulated that off-the-shelf solutions could not be utilized, to prevent any risk. Extensive development and quality assurance testing would ensure that the application met all requirements and did not cut corners in the areas that matter.
